FASTING

My sister and I began the Daniel Fast on Jan. 8, 2018 after attending a church that encouraged its members to do so and write down 5 things they "believed God for."

Neither of us had challenged ourselves in this way before. As we are now on day 18 out of a 21 day fast, I have a few new comments on the fast I will share below the original vlog!

Since making this video, I started an internship where I work 2:30-10:30am shifts. So I will now confidently say that whole grains are NOT the hardest part of this fast, but not being able to drink coffee or caffeine.

However, my sister and I both have never gone this long not eating meats, sweets or treats. After the fast ends we have decided to keep some of our eating habits the same. We know we will be making healthier choices in the grocery store and staying away from processed foods. We also agreed to choosing one or two days a week to eat meat.

If it is something you want to try, I encourage you to! It's a great way to be intentional and draw closer to God through sacrifices. Already I have seen Him answer a few of my prayers. (Check out my vlog on my God moment--had we not been fasting and eating dinner at Chipotle, I'm not sure an incredible opportunity to serve would have opened up to me the way it did!)

Here is the list we used to reference what we could and couldn't eat. Also my Pinterest board for recipies has several yummy ones we tried like vegetarian tacos and soup!

PS... If you're looking for times that fasting has been referenced in the Bible, here's 40 to start!

Happy Fasting!!!

And as always... This Letter Contains Love.
